Still Lifes by Marjorie Collins

I have become an avid collector of objects and fabrics over the course of time, sometimes with a view to using them in paintings immediately, while on other occasions they have simply attracted me and only later have I created compositions around them. In setting up a still life, the elements of shape, colour and shadow predominate, but these are combined with careful lighting to use reflection and refraction as part of that process. Often I will use simple food, especially fruit, as an element of the composition.
